The 12U Rage finished 4-1 this weekend and took first place in their first tournament of the season. It took 16 total innings to finally get over the hump against the Queen of Diamonds - Purple team but the girls never quit.
Friday night the girls started a little slow but eventually woke up the bats and beat the Queen of Diamonds White team from Oak Creek, 11-2. With that victory the girls advanced to a Saturday match-up with the Hudson Heartbreakers from Escanaba, MI. The girls jumped out of the gate early and closed the door in a run-rule 9-1 victory.
Sitting 2-0, the girls advanced to Sunday to face the 2-0 Lakeland Legends Blue club made up mostly of girls from the Westosha Central school district. This proved to be a very competitive game with the teams tied at the end of regulation 5-5. In the first extra inning our girls posted 4 runs to win the game 9-5.
Now being the only undeated team remaining in the tournament we waited for our next opponent who would have to beat us twice to win the double-elimination tournament. Luck would have it that we would face the Queen of Diamonds Purple who we had lost to in our tune-up games at the Wisconsin Wild Invitational two weeks prior.
The two teams did not disappoint in game 1 as they battled for 7 innings with the Diamonds winning 4-3. This set up a winner take all match-up that ended in an 8-8 tie after a regulation 7 innings. It took two extra innings before our RAGE girls finally put away the Diamonds to win 15-11.
We could not be more proud of our girls' effort.
